    Participants in the Invitational Leadership Institute become SJVWP Teacher Leaders (TLs) upon completion of the ILI, leading to opportunities to present in professional development programs and conferences, participate in study groups on specific topics,
    and collaborate with other TLs.

    Imagine that you spin a globe and see where to take your next vacation, or if you have a globe, spin it and see where it stops. Write a story, a scene describing where you are going and what you will you do on this trip. Tule fog has settled over us this winter. As our classrooms wind down, finals submitted, holiday parties held, and we pack up the last bits of grading and planning to take home, consider joining us on 1/10/26 as we write into joy. Bring your spring semester planning to work on, that short story you keep meaning to draft, emails you need to respond to, your thesis, your dissertation, your journal...let's write together. Do you know a new teacher or are you a new teacher? Join us this summer and learn more about writing and teaching writing in your grade level and context. What are you working on? Do you have some lesson plans you want to finish writing, a short story, a poem, or do you need to get back into journaling? Are you a new teacher or starting your credential program in Fall 2026? If so, join us this summer for the New Teachers Writing Collaborative. The San Joaquin Valley Writing Project’s Invitational Leadership Institute for the Teaching of Writing invites teachers representing different grade levels, experience, school districts, and curricular areas. Participants investigate their instruction of writing, examine and critique current research, and engage in professional and personal writing. Calling all teacher writers, join us on Jan 10 for Writing into Joy. After writing, we will also be holding a leadership meeting, so be sure to register, bring your journal, and favorite pens.
